Web Chat Opens but the IRC Network Is Disconnected

Web Chat can open successfully even when the selected external IRC network is disconnected.

This means the browser launch worked, but the network stored on your BNC account is not currently connected.

Check the network

Open:

Dashboard → Networks

Review:

• IRC server hostname.
• Port.
• SSL/TLS setting.
• Nickname.
• Current connection status.
• vHost compatibility.

Use the network's Reconnect control once and wait for the result.

Common causes

The external network may be disconnected because of:

• An incorrect IRC server.
• An incorrect port.
• SSL/TLS being enabled on a non-TLS port.
• An IPv4 or IPv6 incompatibility.
• A connection limit imposed by the IRC network.
• A temporary IRC server outage.

Web Chat itself does not change the network's saved server settings.
