Undernet Connection Guide

The current Undernet preset is:

Network: Undernet
Server: irc6.undernet.org
Port: 6667
SSL/TLS: Disabled

Why the preset uses irc6

Eggy vHosts commonly use IPv6.

The irc6.undernet.org hostname is used so the outgoing IRC connection can support an IPv6 vHost.

Using an IPv4-only Undernet server while an IPv6 vHost is active may prevent the network from connecting.

Important settings

For the current preset:

• Use port 6667.
• Do not enable SSL/TLS.
• Keep the irc6 server address.

Enabling TLS on a non-TLS port can cause the connection to fail immediately.

Too many connections

A message such as:

Too many connections

is normally returned by Undernet or the selected server.

Record the exact server name and error before creating a support thread.

Changing servers repeatedly may not help if the limit applies across the wider network.
