Automatic Connect and Reconnect
Most desktop IRC clients can automatically connect when the client starts.
Before enabling automatic connection, confirm that the saved entry works manually.
Recommended order
Reconnect delays
Do not configure an extremely aggressive reconnect loop.
Repeated connection attempts can:
A short delay between retries is recommended.
After changing account details
Disable automatic connection temporarily when:
Update the saved entry before automatic reconnect runs again.

- Confirm SSL/TLS is enabled.
- Enter the complete server-password format.
- Connect manually once.
- Confirm the correct dashboard network opens.
- Enable automatic connection.

Do not configure an extremely aggressive reconnect loop.
Repeated connection attempts can:
- Trigger temporary connection limits.
- Flood the client status window.
- Make authentication errors harder to read.
- Continue retrying with an outdated password.
A short delay between retries is recommended.
After changing account details
Disable automatic connection temporarily when:
- Changing your BNC password.
- Renaming a dashboard network.
- Removing a network.
- Troubleshooting repeated authentication failures.
Update the saved entry before automatic reconnect runs again.
