Maintenance update for Messenger voice and video calling.

Fixed an issue affecting WebRTC calls when the optional Node.js realtime gateway is unavailable and Messenger falls back to AJAX polling. In some cases, the receiving side could show as connected while the caller remained stuck on “Calling”.

Messenger now correctly starts and maintains the dedicated call-status polling when realtime is unavailable or drops during a call, allowing the caller to receive the updated call state and continue the WebRTC connection process normally.

No changes are required to existing TURN or STUN settings for this fix.

Eggy Messenger 1.1.1d​

This is a mandatory update for all Eggy Messenger customers.

Version 1.1.1d includes a number of important fixes to calling, permissions and Messenger interface behaviour.

Voice and video calling now work independently throughout Messenger. Disabling either feature in the ACP or through user group permissions will correctly remove the relevant controls from the interface without affecting the other call type.

This update also fixes an issue where Messenger permissions were not always being passed correctly to the frontend, which could cause voice and video controls to remain hidden even when they were enabled.

Call history has also been updated to follow the correct calling settings and permissions, and the misleading invalid response 200 message that could appear when a disabled feature was triggered has been resolved.

The emoji installation compatibility fix introduced in 1.1.1c is also fully included in this release.

All customers running 1.1.1c or earlier should update to 1.1.1d.

Messenger 1.1.1c Maintenance Update

This is a small maintenance release focused primarily on installation compatibility.

A problem was reported affecting some first-time Messenger installations, where certain template characters could be rejected by the site's database configuration during the initial XenForo template import. Messenger 1.1.1c changes how those characters are stored so they continue to display normally while avoiding the installation error.

This release also includes corrected XenForo file hashes and updated installation/readme information.

Existing 1.1.1b customers: If Messenger is already installed and working correctly, there is no urgent requirement to upgrade. However, upgrading to 1.1.1c is recommended so you are on the latest maintenance build with the corrected package data and hashes.

As always, existing installations can upgrade normally without uninstalling Messenger first.

Messenger 1.1.1b adds a new Bulk friendships tool in the Admin Control Panel.

Admins can now connect one member to all eligible members, or connect all eligible members with each other, without sending individual friend requests.

Friendships are created directly as accepted. Existing friendships are left alone and blocked relationships are respected.

This update is especially useful for private clubs, staff communities and smaller forums where members are expected to already know each other.

This hotfix addresses a user reported issue with Messenger composer popups not closing naturally once opened.

GIF, Emoji and More Options panels now include a clear X close button and have more consistent dismissal behaviour across desktop and mobile.

Panels can now be closed by clicking or tapping outside them, selecting the message field, pressing the same toolbar button again, or opening another composer panel. Escape also closes open panels on desktop.

Eggy Messenger 1.1.1 focuses on presence, positioning, notifications and performance improvements.

This update adds a live Messenger Online Members widget, new administrator control over whether members can appear offline, flexible desktop Messenger placement including Left, Right and Drag modes, native XenForo alerts for friend requests and accepted requests, and lazy loading for Messenger audio attachments.

The Drag mode allows members to reposition Messenger anywhere on desktop and remembers the chosen position, helping prevent clashes with content, floating controls or custom style layouts.

Audio attachments are now loaded only when played, reducing unnecessary requests when opening conversations containing audio.

Fixed an issue with the Messenger user group limits page where template variables were being handled incorrectly, causing a server error when opening the page.

Eggy Messenger 1.0.9 focuses on fixes reported against 1.0.8.


Messenger Settings controls have been corrected so preference fields are properly usable, including checkbox and dropdown controls.


Last Seen privacy is now fully respected throughout Messenger, including live conversations and realtime presence updates. Disabling Last Seen now immediately removes the stored display from active chats, including conversations between members who are not Messenger friends.


Friend request privacy has also been cleaned up so the available options accurately reflect how Messenger works, with Members and Nobody now correctly handled.

Fixed an issue where Eggy Messenger could return a 200 error on XenForo installations with Friendly URLs disabled. Messenger now correctly supports both Friendly URLs and standard XenForo URLs.

Messenger 1.0.7 is a stability and reliability update focused on permissions, realtime behaviour and XenForo compatibility.

This release improves suspension and group permission enforcement, strengthens blocking and presence handling, corrects fallback polling behaviour, resolves a XenForo LESS compilation issue and improves Realtime file handling.

The package has also been fully synchronised for 1.0.7, including templates, phrases and XenForo-compatible file hashes.

Patch 1 adds optional Node.js/WebSocket realtime messaging with automatic AJAX polling fallback, improves Messenger mobile/fullscreen UX, stabilises reaction controls, and improves realtime gateway diagnostics and authentication handling. XenForo file-health hashes have also been regenerated and verified.
