Eggy ROM Console brings a complete retro gaming experience directly into XenForo.
Rather than bolting a basic emulator onto a forum page, ROM Console is designed as a full gaming platform built around XenForo accounts, permissions, progression and community features.
Players can maintain their own game library, launch supported ROMs through the bundled EmulatorJS runtime, manage saves, earn achievements and XP, progress through ranks, collect rewards, compete on leaderboards, use a wallet and trading system, and build a persistent gaming profile directly inside your community.
ROM files can remain on the player's own device. When local play is used, ROM Console verifies the selected file against its registered metadata before playback rather than requiring the player's personal ROM collection to be permanently uploaded to your server.
PLAY YOUR WAY — CONTROLLER, KEYBOARD OR MOBILE
One of ROM Console's standout features is that players are not tied to one control method or device.
ROM Console supports Windows-compatible/gamepad controllers, keyboard controls and built-in mobile touch controls.
Controller input is automatically detected where supported, desktop users can play using their keyboard, and mobile or tablet players receive an on-screen touch interface including directional and game controls.
Fullscreen gameplay is supported and landscape orientation is recommended for the best mobile experience.
This allows the same XenForo gaming system to work across desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
BUILT-IN EMULATOR RUNTIME
ROM Console includes its required EmulatorJS runtime and supported browser cores as part of the add-on package.
Supported systems include Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance and SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis.
Administrators receive readiness tools for checking the bundled runtime, cores and server environment without having to manually assemble the emulator platform.
CLOUD SAVES AND SAVE MANAGEMENT
Registered players can create and manage cloud save states through XenForo.
ROM Console also supports compatible battery-save imports such as .sav and .srm files.
Save information is linked back to the appropriate ROM and integrity checks are used for ROM and save-state data to help prevent mismatched game data.
PLAYER PROGRESSION
ROM Console gives gameplay a purpose beyond simply launching a game.
Players can earn XP, progress through configurable ranks, unlock achievements, receive collectible rewards and compete through leaderboards.
The result is a gaming profile that develops alongside the member's normal XenForo account.
REWARDS AND COLLECTIBLES
ROM Console includes a reward system with collectible reward items, qualities/rarities and reward drops.
Rewards can be earned and claimed by players and can form part of the wider economy and trading systems.
Reward presentation includes artwork, rarity information and configurable reward sound support.
WALLET AND TRADING
ROM Console includes its own player wallet and trading functionality.
Players can participate in the ROM Console economy while administrators retain oversight through dedicated wallet, trading and moderation tools.
GUEST PLAY
Guest access can also be supported.
Guest sessions remain separated from registered-player progression. Guest users do not retain normal account-based saves, XP, achievements, rewards or leaderboard progress.
This provides a way for visitors to experience ROM Console without giving temporary sessions the same persistent benefits as registered community members.
ADMINISTRATION AND MODERATION
ROM Console includes a dedicated XenForo Admin Control Panel area covering the major parts of the platform.
Administrators can manage consoles and cores, games, players, moderation, sessions, guest activity, leaderboards, ranks and XP, achievements, rewards, trading, wallet functionality, imports, settings and system readiness.
ROM Console also integrates with XenForo user-group permissions so access to individual gaming capabilities can be controlled using the existing XenForo permissions system.
The moderation area provides player-specific controls while preserving XenForo's normal account and permission architecture.
DESIGNED FOR XENFORO
ROM Console is not a separate gaming website pretending to be part of XenForo.
Navigation, accounts, permissions, administration, progression and player data are integrated around XenForo so the gaming experience remains part of the community.
The interface also follows the active XenForo style rather than forcing every site to use one fixed visual theme.

Requirements
XenForo 2.3.12 or newer.
A modern desktop or mobile browser with JavaScript and WebAssembly support is required for gameplay.
The EmulatorJS runtime and supported emulator cores are bundled with ROM Console — no separate emulator installation is required.
Players supply their own compatible ROM files. No commercial ROM files are included with the add-on.
Gamepad/controller support depends on browser and device compatibility. Keyboard and mobile touch controls are also supported.
Installation
1. Download the Eggy ROM Console add-on archive.
2. In the XenForo Admin Control Panel, go to:
Add-ons → Install/upgrade from archive.
3. Upload the ROM Console ZIP and complete the installation.
4. Open:
ROM Console → Readiness
5. Confirm that the bundled EmulatorJS runtime and console cores are detected and ready.
6. Review ROM Console Settings and configure any options required for your community.
7. Review XenForo user-group permissions under the ROM Console permissions group and configure access where required.
8. Add or configure games from the ROM Console Admin Control Panel.
No manual database changes or separate EmulatorJS installation are required.
