We have applied a set of important hotfixes across the Eggy BNC dashboard and WebChat services.

These changes primarily address expired dashboard sessions that could cause misleading WebChat launch errors, along with several interface elements that were still using the retired light styling.

Dashboard Idle Session Protection​

The Eggy BNC dashboard now includes an automatic idle-session warning.

After 10 minutes without activity, the dashboard will display a prompt informing you that your session has been idle.

You will then be given two options:

• Stay logged in — renews your dashboard session and allows you to continue using the dashboard.
• Log out — securely ends your session immediately.

A 60-second countdown will also begin when the warning appears. If no action is taken before the countdown reaches zero, you will be logged out automatically and returned to the Eggy BNC homepage.

Why was this necessary?​

Previously, it was possible to leave the dashboard open in a browser tab for a long period after the authenticated server-side session had expired.

Although the dashboard page could still appear to be open and usable, actions that require a valid authenticated session would no longer work correctly.

This was particularly confusing when attempting to launch WebChat.

The WebChat launch process requires the dashboard to create a temporary authenticated launch token. Once the dashboard session is no longer valid, it cannot produce that token.

Instead of clearly explaining that the session had expired, the browser could display a generic JSON or token-related error similar to:

Unexpected token
Invalid session response is not valid JSON

This could incorrectly make it appear that WebChat itself was broken.

The new idle warning prevents the dashboard from remaining open in this misleading expired state. Users are now given the opportunity to renew their session before it expires or are logged out cleanly and returned to the homepage.

WebChat Dark Interface Corrections​

A WebChat interface hotfix has also been applied to both the Eggy BNC WebChat and the standard Eggy Network WebChat.

Two connected-user controls were still inheriting KiwiIRC's original light-theme styling:

• The Away control shown when opening your connected-user panel.
• The nickname conflict prompt shown when your requested nickname is already in use and WebChat asks you to enter another nickname.

These panels could appear with a bright white or light-grey background, dark text and mismatched controls, making them difficult to read against the rest of the Eggy dark interface.

The affected elements have now been corrected to use the Eggy BNC dark presentation, including:

• Dark navy panel surfaces.
• Readable light text.
• Dark nickname input fields.
• Clear nickname-in-use error messages.
• Gold primary action buttons.
• Dark secondary action buttons.
• Consistent borders, focus states and Away controls.

Only the presentation was changed. Nickname handling, Away commands, IRC connections and WebChat behaviour remain unchanged.

Dark Logout Screen​

The logout splash screen has also been updated.

Logging out previously displayed a light cream interface that no longer matched the current Eggy BNC design.

The logout screen now uses the complete Eggy dark presentation, including:

• A deep navy background and card surface.
• Eggy-style cyan detailing.
• Light, readable text.
• A gold loading indicator.
• Consistent styling with the dashboard and session-expiry prompt.

The logout process itself has not changed. Sessions and authentication cookies are still securely cleared before users are returned to the Eggy BNC homepage.

The following areas are now covered:

• Dashboard idle warning after 10 minutes.
• Automatic 60-second logout countdown.
• Session renewal through the Stay logged in action.
• Clean automatic return to the homepage after expiry.
• Correction of misleading WebChat launch errors caused by expired dashboard sessions.
• Dark Away control in WebChat.
• Dark nickname-conflict prompt and controls.
• Dark Eggy BNC logout splash screen.

No changes were made to ZNC, IRC network connections, channel management or users' saved network configurations.
