Hello,

I can certainly provide an explanation regarding the suspension of your account.

Following an investigation conducted today, we identified a copy of Eggy Halloween associated with your download records being distributed across multiple unauthorised redistribution websites.

Before going into the findings, I want to explain why we take this seriously.

Redistribution of our add-ons is strictly prohibited under our terms and rules, regardless of whether an add-on is free or paid.

There are several reasons for this. An add-on that is available for free today may become a paid product in the future. More importantly, the websites involved in this type of activity routinely distribute both free and commercially licensed software without the developers' permission.

We cannot simply overlook the redistribution of free products while expecting our paid products to remain protected. Allowing this activity to continue would expose Eggy, our customers and our licensing system to unnecessary risks.

Findings from our investigation​

We obtained the following archive from an unauthorised redistribution website:

Our download system generates identifiable archives containing build information and identifiers associated with the downloading account. These identifiers allow us to investigate unauthorised redistribution and establish where particular downloads originated.

Further examination of the redistributed archive revealed that the original build identifier used by our fingerprinting system had been removed.

This is particularly concerning because removing identifying information makes it more difficult to trace the origin of redistributed files. As a result of this discovery, we have also strengthened our fingerprinting measures.

However, despite the removal of the build identifier, the archive still retained Raver in its filename.

The same identifying filename was discovered across multiple redistribution websites.

Our findings are not based solely on a filename. We also examined the relevant download dates, account download history, distribution patterns and other internal records.

Our investigation indicates that this activity dates back to 28 August.

The combination of these findings provides sufficient grounds for us to maintain the suspension.

Why we have taken this action​

We do not suspend accounts based on assumptions or isolated coincidences. When an account is suspended, we require sufficient supporting evidence to justify that decision.

In your case, the evidence gathered during our investigation raises serious concerns about the security of our downloads and the risks associated with allowing continued account access.

Our records show that your download history consists of free add-ons, with no paid add-on purchases.

For clarity, your lack of purchases has played absolutely no part in this decision.

We value members who download our free products just as much as those who purchase our paid products. Both are entitled to the same level of support, and both are equally expected to respect our rules.

I also want to make something clear to anyone who may read this suspension appeal: we do not penalise members simply for downloading free add-ons, nor do we issue suspensions without investigating the circumstances. These measures exist to protect Eggy, our developers, our licensing arrangements and our customers.

As your account has no paid purchase history, there are also no outstanding billing or paid-licence matters arising from this suspension.

Final decision​

Having reviewed the available evidence, your account suspension will remain permanent.

We have determined that reinstating your account would present an unacceptable risk to Eggy and the integrity of our download system.

You are not permitted to register alternative accounts to circumvent this suspension. Any additional accounts identified as belonging to you will also be suspended.

I appreciate that this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, but our redistribution rules exist for legitimate reasons and must be enforced consistently.

Your access to Eggy and its services is permanently revoked.
